我相當期待自己在下兩個學期中, 能持續掙脫過去的陋習,並創作出更有趣的作品和更了解自己。

以下是brief的內容:
Your flat- your habitat- the first landscape you see in the morning and the last one at night. Your shelter when things do not go to plan. Your communication-center where your family and friends find your current base. What is it that you want to show us when we visit? Will your flat tell us the truth or a fabricated story about you?
Do the objects we surround ourselves with influence us or do they merely show who we are?
Will you manipulate you space for better or for worse? Will you live in its transformed stage and record how the changes shape your life or return it to its old self once we leave? Will you solve a problem or create one?
If you have a chance to show your room, what will you do to your room? What will you want the visitors to think about you? Will you clean it? Create something? Conceal? Add a surprise? Or pretend you are another sort of person?
Artist Gabi Klasmer and Julia Lohman ran this project with 15 designers during this week. Each person has four days to re-design his or her flat. ShiKai Tseng is one of them, he thinks when we want to know someone from their room, there is too much interference which may not represent the person. What had existed before the tenant moving in? What exists once the tenant moves in? We have to separate these two parts, then we could see the reality of this person.
He did one thing, to paint everything which was not bought or brought in to the space by him a white color, thus all his possessions and subsequently his identity became the emphasis. Then people could understand him from this pure environment.

最近不論哪個Platform大家都再煩惱,抓頭。
不過有瓶頸才有突破,
總比沒瓶頸一路順遂的優!

The space you occupy, your radius, the area of your direct control. What lives in this area? Do you want to extend it, Shrink it? Inside and outside of your body, how do you influence the space around you? Design an object or objects that inhabit the space inside the radius of your out- stretched arms. Alternatively, create the objects that help you reinterpret, change or extend what we call “at arms length” beyond physical limits.
Think around these words:
Hold, give, attract, obsess, act, control, extend, move, contract, control, take, grasp, sense, probe, detect, snatch, protect, exclude, include, gesticulate, push, pull, tense up, shove, reserve, defend, deform, optimize, strengthen, displace, struggle, hold, dress, fashion, encapsulate, crowd, hide, customize, perfect, personal space, presence, charisma, haptic, artificial, agile, transpire, bionic, machine, support, worship, abhor, force, clumsy, assist, amputate, modify, exchange, replace, recycle, morph, comfort zone, mobile architecture, unreal, unravel, straighten, dishevel, distance, unit, claustrophobia, agoraphobia, looking out of your body from two hole in your head, permeable membrane, “the arm’s length principle”, keeping someone at arm’s length, short arm, deep pockets,, living in a bubble,…..

She picks up tips from taxidermists and vists knacker’s yards.
She eats tripe but won’t touch chicken reconstitued into dinosaur shapes.
She Launched her career with maggots and recently made a seat – innocuous enough, you’d think – that sparked a diatribe form one of the fathers of postmodern design.
She is one of only a handful of designers today whose work comes with a social critique of any depth. And, no, it’s not about sustainability.

Third of Oct., it was Friday.
2:00 pm in 8th floor seminar room.
All Dp students were there.
We were asked for doing our first project- Ediosn's Nightmare.
It's also my first time to see Ron - the designer who is our dep.'s head, and have a big name as well. Ingo Maurer was there as well.
They introduced thier works and think about the bulb and light, also invited some scholars and company manager, to told us some history of the bulb's evolution and something about the technology.
And? that's it!
To be honest, in the whole presentation they gave I only could understand 50%, I hope this problem won't be with me too long.

Personally, I believe who is obsolutely one of the most respected young designers without any doubt :)
In Chinese culture,
we used to send a red envelope with the blessing and fortune to our families or friends while they get married. “Have a lovely baby” is one of
the classical blessing in this moment.
Here, “have a lovely baby” is a concept design of the red envelope.
It is pregnant and bellied. On the one hand, it make “have a lovely baby” become a metaphor, on the other hand, it also represents the blest marriage.
The fortune and words which means blessing are put into the pregnant red envelope and sent to you, two lovers who will be a couple. At the same time, your future child will also receive this lucky and be born to this world.

One is the song about London, quit suitable for the international students.
It's written by Lily Allen & Future Cut, sarcastical and sharp I think.
"When you look with your eyes everything seems nice, But if you look twice you can see it's all lies." with the cheerful music.
By the way, I don't really agree her opinion :P
coz I think I know nothing about the true london, but I will.
Enjoy the song :)
LDN lyrics
Riding through the city on my bike all day
Cause the filth took away my license
It doesn't get me down and I feel OK
Cause the sights that I'm seeing are priceless
Everything seems to look as it should
But I wonder what goes on behind doors
A fella looking dapper, but he's sitting with a slapper
Then I see it's a pimp and his crack whore
You might laugh you might frown
Walkin' round London town
[Chorus]
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why ?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why ?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
you can see it's all lies
There was a little old lady, who was walking down the road
She was struggling with bags from Tesco
There were people from the city having lunch in the park
I believe that it's called al fresco
Then a kid came along to offer a hand
But before she had time to accept it
hits her over the head, doesn't care if she's dead
Cause he's got all her jewelery and wallet
You might laugh you might frown
walking round London town
[Chorus]
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
you can see it's all lies
Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life
Life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life, yeah that's city life
[Chorus x2]
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
Sun is in the sky oh why oh why?
Would I wanna be anywhere else
[x2]
When you look with your eyes
Everything seems nice
But if you look twice
You can see it's all lies]]>We are really lucky to have you!http://cktzeng.exblog.jp/9846795/2008-10-03T07:24:00+09:002008-10-03T07:25:55+09:002008-10-03T07:25:12+09:00cktzeng未分類"We are really lucky to have you!"Our rector said it in the end of the welcome meeting of RCA.
I really surprised about hearing it from the head of our school!
It's not just like the meaning of the words, but more meaningful for me...
In Taiwan, you might never hear that!
It is alway school make the students success, but never in the oppsite.
You might think I say this just becouse it is RCA, so my scale is not equal at begining.
I do not deny that!
But let me tell you one more thing.
This Wednesday, rector had a lecture about the history of RCA, it was obsolutely fantasic, but the point is, when he finished the lecture, he let studnets leave the room first!
IT IS THE POINT I WANT TO SAY!!!!!!
they do not just say it! but also act like that!
And I also could feel their honest and enthusiasm form their every schedule. It was so well organize, every details you want to know they probably had considerated, and I even got a one to one En tutorial for free ( I really wish it could help my EN getting there = =).
But in the other hand, you also could say it should be so good like this, coz it's tuition fee is so fucking expensive...
or there will be some trouble waiting for PEP guys....冏
anyway, it's a good start!
and I will try it as hard as possible :)
Good luck for myself (touch wood :P)
